Parineeta--Awesome Album
Hello people!!! Returning to active blogging after quite a loong time.. Actually had my exams. So, lets get blogging.
I recently got this album "Parineeta".. which is a period film. Its stars Saif, Sanjay Dutt and a new female in the female lead. She's the one who features in Euphoria's "Kabhi Aana Tu Meri Gali" video.
Let me tell u whatever I know about the movie. It is set in Kolkotta and must be sometime around the 50's. Its an adaptation of a novel by Sarat Chandra Chattopadyay..The same guy who wrote Devdas. The movie is directed by Pradeep Sarkar. Though the best part may be "yet to come".. trust me the music is reallly good.
The music has been scored by Shantanu Moitara. Out of the six numbers in the album three have been sung by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Goshal.
1. Piyu bole
(Sonu Nigam & Shreya Goshal)
The album starts with this soft number rendered beautifully by Sonu and Shreya. The first two lines have been done by Saif himself. Its pictured with Saif on the piano and the female lead beside him.. singing obviously.... A very good number and one likes it from the first time he/she listens to it.
2.Kasto Mazaa
(Sonu Nigam & Chrous)
This is a fastpaced song, pictured on Saif in a train. The chrous is by a group of Buddhist looking kids. It is expected that this song will do to Saif what "Mere Sapnon Ki rani" did to his mom. The lines go like this:
Ye hawaein...Gungunaye...
Pooche Tu hai kahan....
Tu hai phoolon mein kaliyon mein...
Ya mere khwabon ki galiyon mein..
Kasto Maza are the starting words of the chorus.
This song is right now beong shown on trailers.. So try to catch it.
3.Chand Hamari Tho
(Chitra and Swanand)
After a long gap we get to hear owr own "Chinna Kuyil". This is a sad or should i say sober number. The male voice just comes for the first one minute after that its all Chitra. It is again a melody mixed up in right propotions with meloncholy.
Sample this:
Raat hamari tho....
Chaan ki saheli hai....
Kitne dinon ke baad...
Aayi woh akeli hai...
Never before has some one given such a cute explanation for new moon. The side ends with this haunting tune...
SIDE B
4. Ajeeb Zindagani
(Sunidhi Chauhan)
This is a semi soft number, intended to be a club/bar song of the 50's. Sunidhi has done well in the song and its got a few witty lines too. Not much to say about it since its a kinda short song. There's more of instrumental and that has been done as well.
5.Soona Man Ka Aangan
(Sonu Nigam & Shreya Goshal)
Now its time for Saif's turn to mourn his rift with his girl. So this song comes up. Its got reallly good lines and music is also really nice.. Sonu shows us that he can do sad numbers equally well.
A bit of jingle comes in the middle. It goes like this
Phool Phool Bhavra Dole......
Man mein rahe yehi baat....
Baagh mein papiha pooche....
Pihu pihu piyu kahan....
These lines have been sung by Shreya. At a point both of sing together... Thats when you realise how good they sound together.
6. Dinak Dinak Dha
(Rita Ganguly and Chorus)
This is a marriage song where a old woman sits in the middle and starts singing about marital woes.. Its jingly and bubbly alrite but dosent suit the mood of the listner right after Soona..
Anyways it ok...
7.Hui Mein Parineeta
Its a minute and half (approx) rendition by Sonu and Shreya. It is set on the same tune as the first song.. and has all those naughty noises....(u know what i mean......)
Here ends the album......
Kudos to Shantanu for this excellent job. Just hoping thatthe movie is good as well. LEtme know for sure what u thinkabout this post and the music. U can hear it online at
